The Infant Nursery at LPE
Le Petit Elephant Nursery is your infant's home away from home! We provide a warm, safe and nurturing environment in which your child can explore and grow. Our infant rooms are cozy and comfy, and they feel like home. Infant play areas are filled with only high-quality, non-toxic wooden toys from brands such as PlanToys, Haba, Melissa & Doug, Under the Nile, Community Playthings, and Hape. We do not allow any plastic toys for mouthing in the infant playrooms.
We love to cuddle and hold our babies! We play music, dance, read lots of books daily, and we let the children explore both our indoor and outdoor environments, providing many wonderful opportunities for sensory stimulation in your developing infant. We follow many aspects of the RIE caregiving principles, and fully support both cloth diapering and breastfeeding.

Our
Infant Care Philosophy
At Le Petit Elephant, we are big advocates of healthy and natural options for our classroom environments, and we follow best practices in all realms of child care. In our infant program, we follow many aspects of the RIE (Resources for Infant Educarers) philosophy of caregiving, which simply put, outlines the need for treating infants with respect and allowing them to physically develop at their own pace. This means that we do not place infants in any position in which they cannot naturally and independently get themselves into (i.e. tummy time, sitting, standing, walking, etc.). These are all developmental milestones that are best left to a child's independent timeline, as they will all develop these skills in time. We highly recommend that LPE families follow these same philosophies at home to create continuity of care across all environments and ensure your child's success and happiness in our program.
Breastfeeding + Diapering
We fully support cloth diapering in our infant nursery! We are also big advocates and supporters of breastfeeding, so please feel free to come and nurse your baby any and every time you want/can. We will provide you with a quiet and comfortable place to do so.

9:00am – 9:30am AM Snack, Diapering and Toileting
9:30am – 10:30am Academic Activities, Art/Reading, and Indoor Play Time
10:30am – 12:00pm Let's go outside! Playground play time
12:00pm – 12:30pm Lunch and Get Ready for Nap
12:30pm- 2:30pm Nap / Quiet Rest Time
2:30pm– 3:00pm Wake Up from Nap, Diapering / Toileting, Prepare for Snack
3:00pm – 3:30pm PM Snack, Sunblock / Hats, Pack Backpacks and Get Ready to go Outside
3:30pm-5:30pm Let's go outside! Playground play time and pick ups
