Our Green School Commitment
At Le Petit Elephant, we feel that it is important to teach children to value and respect the environment and their own health from an early age. We are committed to being as safe, non-toxic, and environmentally responsible as possible.
As part of our green commitment at LPE, we:
Remove shoes in all classrooms to maintain hygiene.
Provide non-toxic, wooden toys for our infants and preschool children to play with.
Encourage washable cloth napkins and whole foods.
Use non-toxic solutions for cleaning and disinfecting.
Discourage single use plastics in lunches and prioritize recycling.
Tend an organic garden, and incorporate gardening into our curriculum.
Strive to model for our students what it means to be healthy and environmentally responsible citizens.
At LPE, we love to be close to nature! Our campus includes an organic garden that is tended by students and teachers.
Students enjoy planting and harvesting food in our 100% pesticide-free garden each year, and the garden is included as part of our outdoor-based curriculum. Children are encouraged to try all of the food growing in the garden, and talk about what they see, taste, smell and feel. Even our infants and toddlers explore the garden to experience it with all of their senses!
